Make More Money Online - Best Online Business Opportunities - Starting a Home Based Business
RSS, XML, or RSS Feeds. You've seen these buttons or terms on websites and blogs all over the Internet. Ever ask yourself what it is and what it stands for? Every ever ask yourself why it is being used and if is helping others with their best online business opportunity? Can RSS be used to make more money online starting a home based business?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is a Web content syndication format. Best of all, it really is simple!
All websites or blogs of interest to you that use RSS, can effectively make your computer an outlet, or syndicate, for those other sites. Up to date news, information, or general content published on those sites of interest can be sent to, and viewed by you, via an RSS feed that is linked to your reader.
A reader is simply the platform that is used to connect you to some of your favorite sites and blogs. Instead of updated news, information, or other content only being accessible by visiting each of your sites of interest everyday, the information is sent from those sites to your reader, by an RSS feed. Instantaneously, hundreds, thousands, or even millions of reader sites, including yours, can be notified of new information or content posted to a single website or blog.
This can be a great time saver. Instead of having to wade through a bunch sites with reading, listening to audios, or watching videos of a bunch of content you don't care about everyday, you get to subscribe to only information you want, sent to you continually, via your reader site. You can get updated on your favorite sites, and blogs, and only those of your choosing, on your reader site in real time, as changes or additions to content of your subscription sites are made.
By subscribing to sites with RSS that you regularly visit, you are in total control of which sites and blogs are sending you new information. No spamming!
In the same manner, those subscribing to your website or blog can be updated as you change information or make new posts.
Don't Have a Reader - Don't Worry, That Is Simple Too
If you don't have a reader and you don't want to download any software, you can go to sites like www.Google.com , www.Blogline.com , www.Newsgator.com , www.MSN.com , and www.MyYahoo.com and open a free account which will include a Reader site. Once you have an account, log in and click on your Reader to open your site.
Once opened, you are shown your current subscriptions. Initially, there may be some default subscriptions on your Reader placed there by the service provider. You can delete them if you want to.
If you are a little more adventurous, you can also download a free RSS reader program on your computer by going to sites such as www.rssreader.com.
The greatest benefit of RSS is that you get to customize your reader site to your interest, and your interest only.
Adding A Subscription - You Guessed It, That is Simple Too
The connection from your sites of interest to your reader is made by you subscribing to each of your sites of interest, individually. This can be done overtime as you visit each of your sites of interest.
To add a subscription to a site of interest to your reader site, go to that site of interest. Click on the RSS icon. The RSS icon is sometimes a small orange box with a white dot in the bottom left hand corner with to curved lines extending outward to the upper right hand corner. There are also other icons that typically include a white plus sign in a variety of shaded squares or rectangles and the reader sites' names, like Google, Blogline, etc., or a button that says XML.
Once you click on the RSS icon simply follow the instructions. Sometimes you are instructed to click on the icon of your reader site. In this instance you would likely select Copy Shortcut, go to your reader site, click on the add new subscription button or or add new feed/channel button, and paste the URL of your site of interest into the box asking for the URL address.
Other times a window with some computer code comes up. If the code window comes up, simply copy the URL out of the address box at the top. Open your reader site, click on the add new subscription button, and paste the URL of your site of interest into the box asking for the URL address. At this point, you are done.
The new subscription name will show up under your subscription list and the new posts from your site of interest should also instantly show up on your reader site, adjacent to your subscription list. Click on the Title and read away! (Hence the name Reader?)
Sites and blogs with RSS can dramatically expand their presence on the Internet through improved search engine rankings, while attracting potential readers, customers, and team members who are coming to them to view their content and offerings.
